Sold to those lil' entrepenurial monsters who set up shop in caves, who sell on to other monsters, who get killed so you can jack their loot, so you can stock your shop, so it can get sold to those lil' entrepenurial monsters who set up shop in caves, who sell on to other mon... Re: Where do the items go? Albeit late, heres the real explanation...
The rent you pay covers several thing including the portal maintanence in order to ensure people can get to the shop. After the timer has run out on your rent the portal degrades. This allows the monsters of out and about to access this shop, which they then loot in order to improve their 'wargear' as it were. However, the 'wargear' carries the mentality of the hero which acts as a massive placebo on the monsters and effectivly makes them belive they are heros. Such is this power, combined with their natual magic they actually become the heros. They also gain a penchant for green trousers and blue shirts. However, they have no idea what to do as the 'hero'. When a player comes along and creates a 'account' he uses the 'account' to advise the monster as what to do next. Then he decides to buy a shop. And foolishly descends into the bottomless pit. And the circle is complete.
